General Reconditioning

Your Guide To Rehabilitation At Holroyd Private Hospital

Rehabilitation Services At Holroyd Private

The program aims:

Reconditioning is a process that aims to maximise your recovery and restoration of independence after illness or injury. This includes improving cardiovascular fitness, increasing endurance, improving general muscle strength and flexibility as well as improved self esteem and overall quality of life. Reconditioning is suitable for those who have been: Unwell, had any debilitating injury, have recently been bedridden, experienced reduced exercise capacity, limited in activities of daily living, or who are experiencing generalised weakness.

Who can benefit from this program?

  • Post-surgery: Following surgery, general reconditioning can help regain strength, improve flexibility, and restore mobility, facilitating a smoother recovery process.
  • Post-injury: Reconditioning can address muscle weakness, pain, and limitations in movement, promoting healing and a return to normal activities.
  • Hospitalisation: After a prolonged stay in the hospital, general reconditioning can help rebuild physical strength and endurance
  • De-conditioned individuals: For those who have been inactive for an extended period, general reconditioning offers a gradual and safe way to rebuild physical fitness, improve strength, and boost energy levels.
  • Older adults: Maintaining physical activity is essential for healthy aging, and general reconditioning programs can help older adults improve balance, strength, and flexibility, reducing the risk of falls and promoting independent living.
  • Individuals with sedentary lifestyles: If your job or daily routine involves minimal physical activity, general reconditioning can help counteract the negative effects of a sedentary lifestyle, reducing the risk of chronic health problems and improving overall well-being.

Our rehab consultant will then check in on you regularly to assess and measure your progress.

  • Expert, Multidisciplinary Team: Our program is led by rehab consultants, cardiac nurses and allied health professionals including physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists and dietitians.
